L'Osservatorio CCS costituisce una sede esperta e indipendente per la promozione della tecnologia della cattura e del sequestro della CO2 (CCS) con la partecipazione degli stakeholder, con incontri pubblici, seminari di approfondimento, attività di comunicazione, formazione e informazione. Raccoglie informazioni e documentazione sugli aspetti tecnologici della CCS, sullo sviluppo della ricerca e delle sue applicazioni, sullo sviluppo dei progetti in corso a livello europeo e internazionale. Realizza, anche in collaborazione con altri soggetti esperti, ricerche e studi sulle problematiche della CCS. Costituisce una sede permanente dove si realizzano confronti, scambi di valutazioni e di analisi, con incontri periodici fra soggetti istituzionali, enti di ricerca e imprese interessate alla CCS. Effettua il monitoraggio delle normative nazionali ed europee e dei trattati e accordi internazionali sulla CCS. Sviluppa l’interlocuzione con le istituzioni locali, regionali, nazionali ed europee.
Introduction to the Italian CCS Observatory
The Observatory on the
Carbon Capture and Storage is promoted in Italy under the initiative of the
Sustainable Development Foundation. The Observatory is an expert and
independent forum for the promotion of CCS in Italy where one of the large
scale integrated European projects will take place at Porto Tolle, a new
coal fired power plant operated by ENEL. ENEL is one of the larger utilities
in Italy that recently launched its experimental capture facility in
Brindisi. All the relevant sectoral stakeholders are in the list of
promoters composed by, inter alia, the technicians of the Economic
Development and Environment Ministries, ENEL, ENEA, ENI, ISS, INGV, OGS and
the Rome and Florence Universities. The Observatory, with public meetings,
workshops, activities in communication and training, will gather information
and documentation on the technological aspects of CCS, on the development of
research and its applications and on the ongoing projects at European and
international level. It provides research and studies on the theory and
practice of the CCS technology and constitutes a permanent floor for
comparisons, assessments, analyses and regular meetings among administrators,
institutions, research teams and companies involved in CCS. The Observatory
monitors the national and European regulations, the treaties and the
international agreements on the CCS, developing talks and networks with
local, regional, national and European experiences.
